Adoption Policy and Requrements:

It is our policy to have all animals in good physical and mental health prior to adoption. All animals are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and given training as needed. As an adoption applicant you must be over 19 years of age. We require four references (not related to you) that can attest to your care and handling of animals. Also, if you currently have a veterinarian, we request permission to speak to them regarding your medical and vaccination maintenance.

Also, a home visit prior to adoption is required. All of our animals must be allowed to live inside your home and not sleep outside at night.

Dogs:

The adoption fee for dogs is $125.00. The first 30 days of adoption are a probationary period. We do not take your adoption fee until the end of the thirty days. You will be required to participate in training with your new dog and our in-house canine trainer to overcome any issues or problems that might present themselves once the dog has gone home with you. We will also do spot inspections at your home during that month. We will also follow the progress of the adoption for the first year.

Cats:

The adoption fee for cats is $100.00. The same conditions apply to cats that are mentioned above for dogs. However, cats are not allowed to be adopted to homes that will allow the cats outside at any time. We do not permit declawing of cats. We also prefer to place coronavirus positive cats with like cats and coronavirus negative cats with the same.

All the animals in our care have had very difficult lives prior to their arrival at our sanctuary. It is our intention that these loving souls find the perfect home so that they may enjoy a safe, loving environment for the remainder of their lives. That is why we are so diligent about our adoption process and our policies.

Homeless Hearts Foundation, Inc., and Loving Hearts Animal Sanctuary, Inc. reserve the right to refuse entrance to the sanctuary, review of animals, and adoption to anyone without further explanation.
